Becoming an Agile 2 Academy Coach and Trainer
Our coaches must meet these requirements:
Experience - several years in roles that include any combination of leadership, consulting, coaching, or business development.
Knowledge of Agile 2.
Knowledge of DevOps.
Knowledge of remote coaching methods.
Experience
We assume that someone who has experience in a leadership role, consulting, coaching, or business development is experienced at advocating and persuading, which is really the core kind of experience that is needed to be effective in helping groups of people. Of course, there is more to it than that, but that is the baseline.
Knowledge of Agile 2
You must read the Agile 2 book (Amazon link), and take our Agile 2 training course (Agile2.academy link to enroll).
Knowledge of DevOps
You must take our Multi-Team DevOps course. (Agile2.academy link to enroll) The content for this course will be available by Jan 15, 2022.
Knowledge of the Human Synergistics Organization Culture Model
You must read chapters 1-3 of Creating Constructive Cultures by Szumal. (Amazon link), and then take our culture test.
Note: If you are very interested in this topic, you might consider obtaining certification from Human Synergistics, here (the cost is $2500, and it consists of a three-day workshop), although that is not required. (I am certified.)
Knowledge of Remote Coaching Methods
We work both onsite and remotely. That means that you need to be expert in helping people in both an in-person context and a remote context. The two are very different.

How Agile 2 Academy Views its Coaches
Agile 2 Academy is a startup, and so right now it cannot afford to maintain a “bench.” That is, if someone’s work is not being supported by a customer contract, them employment with Agile 2 Academy goes on hold. However, that is not how we want to operate. When we grow large enough, we will treat everyone as a permanent employee, and provide job security to the maximum extent possible. When we reach that point, Agile 2 Academy partners will forgo their own pay for three months any time they must lay someone off with less than three month’s notice or severance pay.
