Operational View

The figure below is a process model of product development. While a process view is not sufficient (see Why Constructive Agility Works), a process model is a very useful reference model for defining one’s own processes.

Crucially, this model is not a template to “implement”. Rather, one should use the model to trigger thoughts about what steps might be needed for one’s own situation.

There are five feedback loops in the model:

  1. Internal evaluation to product development: trial users try out candidate releases, and provide feedback to product development teams.

  2. Internal evaluation to product design: trial users try out candidate releases, and provide feedback to product design teams. [Combine this with 1]

  3. Redundant?

  4. Feedback from general customer usage, to the product design [and dev] teams. [Clarify that the incoming arrow is not a feedback loop - the green bubble is a process. Differntiate between data flows (of feedback data) and arrows connecting processes.]

  5. Feedback on product business performance, with respect to supporting the business strategy.
