How Streamline™ Supports Management in Times of Uncertainty

We built Streamlinebecause a tool was needed that integrates strategic planning with execution, in order to provide easy and obvious line-of-sight between the two. We also wanted to support adaptive and agile management for going fast and being able to pivot effectively — at scale.

The result was that Streamline has many advantages over existing tools – see the sidebar.

One of the most complete and widely adopted approaches for agile and adaptive management is Beyond Budgeting. Recently we interviewed the chief champion and a co-founder of that approach, Norwegian business executive Bjarte Bogsnes. Bjarte led the transition to the Beyond Budgeting approach at Equinor (formerly StatOil), one of the world’s largest energy companies. The interview can be seen here.

The reason that we reached out to Bjarte was that we wanted to see what he thinks of Streamline. He liked it a lot.

Streamline has many features that directly or indirectly support Beyond Budgeting. The video below explains how Streamline works, drawing from the Bjarte interview to explain why those features are important.

Bjarte has explained that Beyond Budgeting is not a tool issue: one can use the Beyond Budgeting approach without changing tools. However, the right tool makes it a lot easier.
